Fantastic iPad solitaire game!

I'm not entirely sure what the other reviewer is smoking. Having tried at least five other iPad solitaire games, as well as a fair number of iPhone ones, this is far and away my favorite.

The interface is very clean and well-designed. The animations and display options are very slick. I especially like the option to leave the card stacks a little (or a lot) ragged, and the optional sway effect when dragging cards, both of which give the game a very life-like feel. You can also choose whether you want to tap or drag cards, which is a nice touch missing in lots of other apps. The game plays—and looks—great in both portrait and landscape.

It has a great variety of games—enough to keep you busy without so many that the list becomes cumbersome. I'm also glad that the developer included the full list in the description above—many other apps don't, and there's nothing as frustrating as buying a solitaire game and only then discovering it doesn't have your favorite game.

Deserving of special mention is the very well thought-out help system, which displays the rules concisely while clearly labeling everything in the tableau. Playing unfamiliar (or forgotten) games is a breeze.

And then there's the price. For a fraction of the cost of some feature-deprived single-game apps or bloated, unwieldy jumbo packs, you get a very well-designed game with—let's face it—all the games you're actually going to bother playing anyway.

One last thing—and you'd think this wouldn't be a problem with other apps, but it is—is that it has a nice, clean, simple icon with non-stupid title text. Some of the other solitaire apps are truly frightening in that regard, so much so that I'd be embarrassed to have them on my home screen. It's one more sign of the developers's attention to detail, and it's much appreciated.

Lacking graphics and control

The graphics in slate solitaire look like the screenshots shown here - blurry - and there are no options to improve the appearance of the cards. The free cell game does allow you to move multiple cards at once but there are no click controls for card moves. This game doesn't match the quality of easy 8 card shark solitaire who I hope will produce an iPad version soon. The iPhone version of card shark solitaire scaled up for the iPad is actually more satisfying than the native ipad version of slate solitaire so this was a disappointing purchase for me.

Excellent App with LARGE cards, tap to move

I am very picky when it comes to my card game apps. I tried many of the free apps and problem is they generally don't offer a tap to move option. I have carpel tunnel syndrome and dragging the cards aggravates it. Slate Solitaire App offers the tap to move option and has a choice of a grey background that is easy on the eyes. In landscape orientation the cards are very large. For people over 40 like me this is important!

I've had no significant technical problems. No freezes or shut downs.
